Glencoe Engagement Photoshoot

Glencoe Engagement Photoshoot

Carly & Rob’s
Engagement Photoshoot

Carly and Rob were recently engaged and decided to book in for an engagement photoshoot.
They both feel a great affinity with the mountains and were super excited when I suggested Glencoe as the setting.  It was a cold and typically Scottish ‘dreich’ weather but this didn’t dampen Carly and Rob’s spirits; we had a job to do…

My engagement photoshoots are very relaxed and the plan was to spend a couple of hours in the mountains, taking in the scenery, chatting to get to know each other and taking some great photographs along the way.

The first location was the iconic view at the River Coupall which runs by the mighty Buachaille Etive Mòr and at an opportune moment, between the drizzly rain showers, Carly & Rob agreed to tip-toe out across the slippery rocks to get to the best vantage point. They asked how they should pose for the photographs and I simply told them to do whatever felt natural and to forget that I was there. Here is the first frame of the photoshoot, it was a strong start…

…and here are some close ups taken just afterwards, it is so clear that these guys are madly in love with each other!

After this the rain started coming down but we were enjoying the shoot too much to let it bother us, although at one point I looked at my cameras and was really pleased that they are fully weather sealed! The next stop was somewhere that I had been to previously on a landscape photography trip; one of my favourite views of Glencoe, looking straight down the glen. By this point the weather was pretty miserable and Carly and Rob were pretty cold, but they were great sports and allowed me to drag them up the hill to reach the vantage point.

Whilst the weather was not what anyone would really have hoped for, it turned out to be absolutely perfect to show Glencoe’s foreboding character. I used various photographic techniques to capture the mood of the location.

At the end of the day we were all cold and wet, but the conditions were no match for this couple’s determination and it was my pleasure to join them and to provide them with photographs they can cherish for a lifetime.
